The day began with Matins at St Giles Church, Hawkridge, after which the group set off along the bridleway past the ancient hill fort of Brewers Castle.

A lunch stop was taken at Marsh Bridge in the rain.
After the walk, Bishop Peter was taken by car for a service and picnic to celebrate the creation of the new benefice of Dulverton, Brushford, Brompton Regis, Upton and Skilgate. The picnic was held in the remains of St James Church, on the north-east side of Wimbleball Lake.
